UP Poll
The United Press selected a mythical state champion as early as 1945. Beginning in 1953, a board of ten coaches from across the state was established to vote on which teams they thought were the 'Big Ten.' The UP merged with the International News Service in 1957 to form the United Press International, which continued polling coaches.
