1939 Indiana High School Football Season

In 1939, President Franklin D. Roosevelt declared that Thanksgiving would be the next-to-last Thursday in November instead of the last in an effort to extend the Christmas season during the Great Depression. However, it was up to the state to decide which Thursday they would celebrate: 23 went along with the change, 22 did not and three celebrated both. By 1942, it was signed into law that Turkey Day would be the fourth Thursday of November.
